I’ve been a practising Masseuse/Licenced Massage Therapist/Practitioner (Never really know what to call myself) for over 20 years.I grew up using my hands, always been quite practical my whole life (got that from my Dad) and always had a knack for soothing away aches and pains.
Having a massage
It’s really quite simple, though a lot of people don’t really know what it entails.
It’s all about letting go, giving yourself some time, space and love, you actually don’t have to do anything…
We are so programmed in this world to do STUFF, always, always lots of stuff, it plagues your brain and causes a lot of stress in your body.
People just don’t give themselves the time to just be for a little while; I’ve massaged people from all walks of life and always had good feedback as I usually have to peel a person off my couch afterwards 🙂
My target in life is simple to help people be more at peace with themselves and if they pass on some of that peace after coming to see me, then I’ve done my job and I’m satisfied.. KISS Principle (Keep It Simple Sweetheart)
Massage is indeed glorious, it reaches deep into your muscles, your physiology and your soul as it’s so nurturing for everyone.
It unlocks the inherent tension we all store in our bodies, the difference in a person after they have had a massage is quite profound and that gives me great job satisfaction that I make a difference and that is just brilliant.
Types of Massages
There are lots of different types of massages, here are a few I use
Swedish Massage– A very common technique that includes several types of strokes (The usual sequence in which a swedish massage strokes are conducted are Effleurage, Petrissage, Friction, Vibration, Percussion, and finally passive and active movements (bending and stretching)  The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. This form of massage was created at the turn of the century by Henry Peter Ling in Sweden. It involves the use of kneading, stroking, friction, tapping, and vibration and may provide relief from stiffness, numbness, pain, constipation, and other health problems.
The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Other possible benefits include stimulation of circulation, an increase in muscle tone, and a balance of the musculo-skeletal systems. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. This massage is both relaxing and excellent for maintaining good health.
Aromatherapy Massage -The use and blending of undiluted, pure essential oils extracted from specific aromatic plants in order to promote healing. An aromatherapy treatment with a professional aromatherapist is a unique stress-relieving experience. A traditional aromatherapy massage includes a full-body treatment which often leaves the recipient feeling extremely relaxed and this deep relaxation can last anywhere from several hours to days.
Aromatherapy Massage is very relaxing, yet also can be mentally stimulating, dependent on what oils are used, so I also use it for athletes, footballers and people who like to exercise. I use different blends for what my client needs at that time, so a blend can be dependent on your mood, how you body is and also what is needed afterwards (like a body oil, cream, bath oil or sleep enhancement) There are many oils that can be used to help emotional issues, aches and pains and many other ailments. Aromatherapy offers diverse physical and psychological benefits, depending on the essential oil or oil combination and method of application used.
Some common medicinal properties of essential oils used in aromatherapy include: analgesic, antimicrobial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, sedative, antispasmodic, expectorant, diuretic, and sedative properties.
Essential oils are used to treat a wide range of symptoms and conditions, including, but not limited to, gastrointestinal discomfort, skin conditions, menstrual pain and irregularities, stress-related conditions, mood disorders, circulatory problems, respiratory infections, and wounds. I also use Aromatherapy blends for pregnancy niggles and stress and for the mother, father and baby after birth see more info in on this page about that. Many types of aromatic or essential oils have been in use for centuries I make use of approximately 40-50 different essential oils which are derived from flowers, fruits, seeds, resins and roots of the aromatic plants.
Aromatherapy massage is more soothing as the most important part is the delivery of the essential oils into your body.I blend my organic or wildcrafted essential oils with nourishing base oils, which are quality vegetable oils such as sweet almond, sunflower or jojoba. When the oils are massaged into your skin, they are absorbed into the bloodstream and circulated to different parts of the body. As the oils are massaged into your body, you can also inhale their scent which has different healing properties dependent on which blend of oils I’m using.
Several studies have suggested that being massaged regularly can effectively relieve stress, ease muscular tension and pain and improve joint mobility. In aromatherapy, natural essential oils are used to enhance the effects of the physical techniques, as well as for their own specific health benefits. The combination of the treatment itself and the health-giving properties of essential oils make aromatherapy such a valuable natural remedy for stress.
Aromatherapy has been widely used as a natural means of relieving stress as well as all of its symptoms, ranging from sleep difficulties to anxiety and mood swings. The use of essential oils also has the ability to help many skin problems, relieve symptoms due to colds and even help with relief of respiratory infections; essential oils can relieve muscular aches or pains as well as increase circulation, elevate a low mood and boost energy levels.
Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy that is safe to use at the same time with most medical or alternative treatments. It can also be enjoyed simply for its relaxing effects, as a treat on a special occasion, or just to take time out from hectic life to pamper yourself. A regular aromatherapy massage is a very effective way to prevent stress and to stay balanced and well even during stressful times.
